when COP28 ended in december, 2023, Mothers* rebellion saw no reason to celebrate.
Instead, we will celebrate when nations and communities at the frontlines of the climate crisis see cause for celebration. In response to COP28, we launched a social media campaign in solidarity with these communities, calling for real commitments for climate action. Why? Because we need to act now. Not when it is most convenient or economically beneficial for those holding most power, like the fossil fuel industry or oil nations. We need a sufficient loss and damage fund and an agreement without loopholes. Millions of children across the world are already suffering from the consequences of climate change, there is no time to lose.
